Terms & Conditions

Last updated: June 2026

These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the AutoPostcode website, the postcode lookup and address verification API, dashboard, plugins and related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. This page is maintained by AutoPostcode; if you need bespoke or contractual terms for an enterprise agreement, please contact us.

1. The Service

AutoPostcode provides UK postcode lookup and address verification powered by Royal Mail Postcode Address File (PAF) data. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms and your selected plan.

2. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and API keys secure, and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date. You must not share API keys publicly or use them outside the websites and applications you control.

3. Plans, lookups and billing

Paid plans and credit packs are billed in advance through our payment provider. Lookup allowances reset each billing cycle and do not roll over unless stated otherwise. You can change or cancel your plan at any time through the billing portal; changes take effect according to the terms shown at the point of change.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • resell, redistribute or sublicense raw PAF data except as permitted by your plan and Royal Mail licensing;
  • attempt to bulk-extract or scrape the underlying address database;
  • use the Service to break any law or infringe the rights of others;
  • interfere with, overload or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service.

5. Royal Mail PAF data

PAF data is owned and copyrighted by Royal Mail Group Ltd and provided through the Service under licence. Your use of address data returned by the Service must comply with applicable Royal Mail licensing terms.

6. Availability and support

We work to keep the Service available and accurate, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practical.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AutoPostcode is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, revenue or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "last updated" date above and, where changes are material, take reasonable steps to notify you.
